Management Interface
Now that you know what the BMC is for, let's get you logged in. This chapter walks you through the steps to access the web interface for the first time, from finding the server to handling the initial login.
Default login credentials
Your server's BMC comes with factory-default credentials. You'll need these for your first login.
URL:
https://<Your-BMC-IP-Address>Username:
rootPassword:
0penBmc
Common Mistake: Is that a zero or an 'O'?
The '0' in the default password 0penBmc is a zero. This is a frequent source of login failures. It's highly recommended that you change this password immediately after your first successful login to enhance security.
Logging in for the first time
Follow these steps to log into the BMC web interface.
Open a supported web browser and enter the BMC's IP address into the address bar. Make sure to use
https://.https://10.0.174.13You will likely see a "Your connection isn't private" warning. This is expected. The BMC uses a self-signed certificate by default, which browsers don't automatically trust. Click Advanced, and then select the option to proceed to the site (e.g., Proceed to <IP address> (unsafe)).

Click Log in. You should now be on the main BMC dashboard.
Understanding session timeouts
For security, the BMC web interface will automatically log you out after a period of inactivity (the default is typically 5-15 minutes).
If your session expires, you'll be redirected to the login page. Be aware that any unsaved configuration changes will be lost. To avoid this, it's a good practice to save your work frequently, especially when making critical changes.
