The Quality & Retention settings allow administrators to optimize and manage the performance, storage, and overall video recording quality of their camera. By configuring these options, users can strike the right balance between video clarity and storage capacity, ensuring that footage is both accessible and efficiently retained.
You can access this page from Configure > Camera > Quality & Retention.
Video Quality: It could be set to Good, Better, or Best for different bit rates. Default is better. If set to higher retention days, event recordings could be less accordingly. In summary, to save bandwidth or record more events, users can set it to good quality. If bandwidth is sufficient for very low-motion environments, users can set it to Best Quality.
Audio Recording: For privacy reasons in some states in the U.S., recording audio is not allowed in some regions. You can enable it manually in allowed regions.
Camera Storage Retention: Set how long the camera retains footage before it is automatically deleted. For example, entering 5 days will automatically delete footage older than 5 days. If the storage space runs out before the retention period, older footage will be deleted automatically to free up space.
